To support her family, Handler began to work as an actress. Handler took the decision to concentrate on stand-up when she was 21, after she realized her storytelling skills. The beginning of her career Handler began her stand-up career as a member of the Oxygen network, which was an all-female cast on a hidden camera/practical joke reality show on TV called Girls Behaving badly. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend (and HBO) have shown her stand-up performances live. In 2010, it was confirmed that she would be hosting for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. In this way, she became the second woman in history to host the VMA's, following Roseanne Barr.
